Head of Technology | Research Training and Innovation, Platform Architecture, AI Systems
Kelvin Willy Mulama is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (UK) — one of the world's most prestigious engineering institutions — and a trained actuary, a rare pairing of rigorous quantitative science and frontier engineering innovation. He now brings that combination to bear as Head of Technology at Emergency-Taai, where he leads platform architecture, artificial intelligence systems development, and research training and innovation for the organization's AI-enabled emergency dispatch and prehospital care platform, translating Dr. Psusma's clinical innovation into a robust, scalable technology infrastructure capable of operating reliably within resource-constrained health systems across Kenya and the wider region.
Kelvin is a Kenyan technology entrepreneur with over four years of experience building and scaling ventures across fintech, last-mile logistics and delivery, agricultural climate intelligence, and civic technology, with a consistent focus on serving low-income communities, informal traders, wastepickers, refugees, students, and other essential workers across Kenya. This cross-sector entrepreneurial background gives him direct, hands-on experience designing and deploying digital platforms that must function reliably in low-resource, high-need environments — the same operating conditions Emergency-Taai's emergency response platform is built to serve.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science from Kenyatta University, and earned his Fellowship through the Royal Academy of Engineering's Leaders in Innovation Fellowship programme, focused on innovation and product commercialisation. He has also undertaken training in digital currencies at the University of Nicosia, and has engaged in product development and entrepreneurship programmes with the World Bank, UN-Habitat, Safaricom PLC Kenya, Tech Bridge Invest Kenya, and Hult Prize.
At Emergency-Taai, Kelvin applies this cross-sector technology and product-scaling background to platform architecture and AI systems design, working closely with the clinical, operations and field teams to ensure the emergency dispatch system is technically sound, field-ready, and positioned for sustainable scale-up under the UNICEF Venture Fund Frontier Climate Tech for Children's Health programme.
